Description:
Join us for a comprehensive 5-hour in-person workshop designed to provide participants with a focused understanding of the roles and responsibilities of CoNavigators, Support Service Providers, and Interpreters in supporting the DeafBlind community. This immersive experience includes hands-on training in effective communication strategies, safety protocols, and best practices for guiding and collaborating with DeafBlind individuals.

Prerequisite:
This workshop is a prerequisite for the Mentorship and Feedback for Interpreters and CoNavigators at the Usher Syndrome Coalition Conference.

Mentorship and Feedback for Interpreters and CoNavigators at the Usher Syndrome Coalition Conference

– July 19, 2024: 11:00 am – 6:00 pm EDT (5 hours, 0.5 CEUs)
– July 20, 2024: 7:30 am – 8:00 pm EDT (10 hours, 1.0 CEUs)

Description:
Mentorship sessions during the Usher Syndrome Coalition Conference will provide real-time feedback and guided reflection for interpreters and CoNavigators. Participants can earn up to 1.5 CEUs. Please note that this workshop is broken into two separate days. Participants are encouraged to attend both to further develop their skills.

Prerequisite: You must register for and complete the in-person “Navigating DeafBlind Services: Preparing for Dynamic Challenges” workshop prior to attending additional workshops to further develop your skills.

Clarification:
Participants are required to commit to 5 hours on Friday and/or 10 hours on Saturday based on their assignments. They do not need to be available for the entire listed time frame on each day.

Day 1:
Focus on hands-on techniques, safety measures, and reflective practice (0.5 CEUs).

Day 2:
Extended sessions on practical skills and in-depth training (1.0 CEUs).
